ACOUSTIC CONCERTS: SME can provide a variety of talented young adult and
adult musicians for your special event. We have soloists and small ensembles available who perform
on the violin, piano, cello, acoustic and electric guitars. We offer a full range of musical styles
including classical, jazz, rock and Irish reels for a modest performance fee. Our young adults have performed at Mechanic’s
Hall, Worcester Art Museum, numerous colleges, a wedding and the several events sponsored by the Leominster Art Association.
We offer attractive rates because we are a non profit organization.

COMMUNITY SERVICE EVENTS: SME musicians have performed at more than 60 events
since April, 2004. Many of these events have been free concerts open
to the public hosted by SME or other nonprofit organizations. These informal concert events provide unique opportunities
for local musicians to perform in public. Equally important, these concert events introduce our young performers to
local nonprofit organizations and enable them to learn about and engage their community.

STEP UP TO MUSIC: This award-winning program provides 8 weeks of free
music lessons on the acoustic guitar or electric piano to young adults who are struggling to overcome depression, other emotional
issues or who do not have the financial resources to pay for music lessons or an instrument. We loan the instrument
to the student while they are taking lessons.
At the end of 8 weeks, if the student has practiced hard and taken
good care of the instrument, it will be given to them during a special recognition ceremony. Students will be invited to perform
at the recognition event in addition to future community convert events hosted by Sterling Music Exchange. We believe
the act of music-making improves self-esteem, increases self-confidence and introduces young adults to the lasting benefits
of creative participation in the arts.
This
program was the Nonprofit Category Winner at the Mount Wachusett Community College 2006 Business Plan Competition, and won
the Community Builders Special Award and the Phoenix Park Special Award.
